I’m Melanie Robinson, a Computing and Graphic Design student at Worcester University. I live in Solihull, West Midlands and enjoy web design, e-commerce and publication design. As a child I loved magazines- i would often read magazines rather than watch TV, as i got a bit older I used to create my own magzines and sell them to my friends! Im guessing this is where my creativity started.
At School i studied GNVQ ICT for my GCSE’s, I seemed to be quite good at it and got high marks. After school I studied AVCE ICT at Solihull Sixth Form where i particually enjoyed web development and publication design.
After college i wasn’t too keen on university and felt the need to do some soul searching as i didnt have a clue what i wanted to do with my life. I got myself a full time job at Bristol and West Mortgages where i soon become a Mortgage Case Manager, meaning i was in charge of making sure customers had their mortgage in time to move into their house. At 20 I decided to go to Univerity and study something that i would have a career in that i would enjoy, this is when i chose to study Computing with Graphic design. This means i can study web development and publication design at the same time.
In the future i would love to manage a fashion website or work for a fashion magazine…or even both.
My favorite websites are www.net-a-porter.com, www.asos.com and http://www.graziadaily.co.uk/ probably because they are all fashion sites and i like their girly designs.
